“The performance, conceived by Michael Grossmann, investigates the possibility of a combination of reading and concert, of theatrical and musical performance. The texts by Euripides, Goethe, Joyce – structured around writings by German author Arno Schmidt (1914-1979) and performed live by an actor – use different languages that both complement and conflict with one another. This results in new means of expression. Two works by composer Reiko Füting will function as frames. The latter is based on lyrics by Kathleen Furthmann, and closely references Arno Schmidt’s text. Longleash will be joined by mezzo soprano Nani Füting.” – Michael Grossmann
